You may be wondering how two kids from NJ ended up getting married in Tuscany. Well it starts in Mexico City with a few stops in San Francisco to ultimately land in New York City. So it’s simple really....
One afternoon in April of 2016 Matt walked into the lobby of the W hotel in Mexico City with his friend Micheal. On that same afternoon Courtney walked into the same hotel lobby with her friend Anna. Micheal and Anna were college friends and everyone decided to meet up later.
Matt and Courtney both liked so many little things about each other in those first few days in Mexico City. Courtney thought Matt was really cute and everything he said was interesting. Matt thought Courtney was cute but found it inconvenient that she was from NJ. Matt learned about Mezcal from Courtney, and Courtney learned about rap music from Matt. A trap queen is not what you might think.
After the weekend in Mexico City they returned to their respective homes in SF and NYC, but they still wanted to keep talking all the time.
Matt told Courtney he had a business trip to New York, but really he was just coming to ask her on a date. Courtney was not aware of this but ended up spontaneously messaging him to meet up when she learned that he was in town. The next day they met up again. And then again the next day.
They had an epic nine hour date that included everything from canned wine, to basketball playoffs, to jazz, and then concluded with non-canned wine. Both were very happy until they had a hangover the next day. Only they didn’t actually care and couldn’t wait to see each other again!
There were one and half years of red eye flights and marathon FaceTime calls that followed that visit. Matt learned to ski. Courtney learned to like bacon and fried chicken. They both fell in love with red wine together in Napa and Tuscany. And fell more in love the more they learned about each other and the more they grew together.
Eventually Matt made the move to NYC and they started their official life together on the Lower Eastside. They discovered their favorite places in their new neighborhood, improved their culinary skills and acquired a lot of kitchen gadgets from amazon. They realized they loved living together and life was way better together.
Matt decided to propose to Courtney in Rome. He acted a bit crazy beforehand and made up a story about a man named Luca, but everyone laughs about it now. He proposed in the perfect spot under a gorgeous stone archway covered in ivy. At first all Courtney could do was cry until Matt reminded her to look at the ring and to answer the question and then she managed to get out the word YES. He whisked her off to a romantic weekend inTuscany. They loved that weekend so much that when they started dreaming up their wedding it was all they could think of. They thought “Imagine having all our friends and family here to experience what we love so much!” They decided to have their wedding in Tuscany, Italy.
